Is it hard to read tablature (guitar tabs)?
I want to learn the guitar, but I have absolute no knowledge of music theory, and I am 19. Critical and negative people in my life prevented me from learning ("It is a waste of money!" "You will end up quitting anyway, so what is the point?"), but now I want to do it and just take a chance, even if I end up giving it up, because at least I can say I gave it a try. Seriously, it is a lot better than what I am doing right now, is just sitting at home, watching TV and just feeling myself go lazy and dumb. So I know that tabs are different from the usual music notation, but I just need to know if they are hard to learn at my age? And also is it possible to teach myself, is there self teaching books on this? Please help, thanks. How to read Tablature for guitars?

I got a electric guitar 3 days ago and I have learned tabs. I want to get a book from my music store, but I don't know if they make books that have tabs in them. I really don't want to look stupid about it either. Do they make tableture books? If so what are some good ones I could ask for?How do you read guitar tablature?
