Hey there! I'm sixteen years old and am about to start teaching a family friend's 7 year old daughter to play the piano. I myself have been playing for nearly all my life. The only problem is that I've never taught anyone from the very beginning before, and am kind of freaking out a little bit! I have no clue how to teach a kid piano/sight reading from scratch. Any helpful tips out there?Rythm section in a jazz class, I play classical piano. How can I spice up piano & avoid pouding boring chords?
I am on piano in a rythmn section of a jazz class. Up until now we have been playing two-to-the-piano because there were to many pianists. My partner is very good at doing whatever it is that turns the boring repetitive pounding of Eb Eb Eb Bb Bb Bb into a light, complimentry piano part. However our class is being cut in half and I will now have to play alone. So. Jazz pianists. In simple, easy language for a piano student lacking in theory, (I know thats a lot to ask for) what can I do to turn basic chord pounding into something less monotonous? Thankyou so much!!! A lot of the kids in the class who are on other instruments actually play piano very well i am under scrutiny I do like the class and I want to be better! THANKS.
